Hello and welcome to Poppy Knitwear - I’m Sharon, the maker behind every stitch you see here.

I’m based in West Sussex where I handcraft range of cosy thoughtful pieces - from knitted baby cardigans and knitted blankets and crochet blankets to eco-friendly face wipes, cushions bags and much more. Every item in my shop is made with care, patience and a whole lot of love.

My journey began with a pair of tiny cardigans for my nephews - my sister-in-law has just had bab boys and I couldn’t find anything unique or special enough in the shops. Inspired by my late grandmas, who taught me to knit, I picked up my needles again and I haven’t stopped since. Later, when I broke my wrist and couldn’t knit, I taught myself to crochet and it opened a whole new creative world.

Crafting is more that just a hobby for me - its how I relax after a busy day working in the private social care sector. I love making one-of-a-kind pieces especially baby cardigans that are as unique as the little ones who wear them. My blankets tend to follow similar patterns but with different colour combinations, making each one feel special.
